Borough Clerk’s Office Seeking Summer Intern
The Borough of Florham Park is seeking a summer intern with interest in working in a Municipal Government setting to work in the Borough Clerk’s Office. This will be a part-time position with a 20-hour work week at $13.00 per hour. Ideally the position would be for 6-8 weeks beginning in June. The position is best suited for a college student seeking summer employment.
The candidate will assist the Clerks’ office with various tasks such as typing, filing, sorting mail, answering phones, election duties and other miscellaneous tasks. The candidate may also assist as necessary in other areas of the municipality such as Administration, Finance, Tax, Engineering, Public Works etc. as needed. Ideally, the candidate must be a fast and accurate typist and be proficient in using Microsoft Word and Outlook.

Borough Engineer’s Office Seeking Summer Intern
The Borough of Florham Park is seeking a summer intern to work in the Engineering Department. This will be a part time position with a 20-hour work week at $10.00 per hour. The position is best suited for a college student seeking a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or a related field.
Job Description: A large component of the work will be helping to locate Borough Trees and stormwater inlets and outfalls using the Borough’s GPS equipment. As part of the NJ Stormwater Regulations and Urban Community Forestry Program, the Borough of Florham Park has certain requirements and objectives to meet. One objective is to create and maintain a tree inventory of all Borough Trees. Florham Park also operates under a Tier A Municipal Stormwater General Permit, which will soon require stormwater structures to be located and mapped. The summer intern will create an inventory and database of Borough Trees and stormwater structures. This information will then be integrated into a GIS database.
Additional tasks may include:
• Assist in reviewing surface grading permits and plans
• Assist in tree removal permit applications
• Assist in the Inspection of site work at commercial and residential properties
• File management
Requirements: The ideal candidate will be pursuing a degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental science or related field as it applies to the job description. Candidate will need some knowledge of GIS and ability to create a database using Excel. Some tree identification experience preferred, but we will train. Ability to read and understand engineering and architectural plans is a plus. This job will include working outdoors in various weather conditions.
